Baby H’s Mustache Shower

Baby H’s Mustache Shower

Back in May my close friends and sisters threw a baby shower for Baby H….or should I say Miles now? 🙂  I think it’s kind of fun that this post has taken so long to get up because there is a fun VERY newborn picture of Lane included in this post.

My sister told me afterwards she hoped it was OK that they did a mustache theme because she’s always wanted to throw a party with that theme but hadn’t had an opportunity yet.  Is it OK? Are you kidding, I still haven’t moved past the mustache trend so I absolutely loved it!!  But let’s be real out of this group ANYTHING they would have done I would have loved because they are all so darn creative.  One of them probably has better pictures on an actual camera, but you’ll have to deal with my cell phone pictures for this post.

The morning of the shower I was naturally trying to fit ALL of the errands in that I possibly could.  I was playing it by ear on what route I would take to get to the shower location as my options were highway or smaller roads.  The highway option is probably 85% of the time a bad option because this particular highway is rarely without traffic. I had really no wiggle room to get to the shower and needed everything to line up juuust the way I needed it to including the traffic. HA!  Well this happened…..

Which caused me to be forty-five minutes late to my own baby shower. FOURTY-FIVE MINUTES.  I was so embarrassed!  I had held it together until I walked up to the front porch of Bitner’s house and could hear everyone inside and the waterworks just started flowing.  I text messaged my sister and told her I hadn’t made it in yet because I couldn’t stop crying (yay, pregnancy hormones!!) and she and my friend, Rebekah, came out.  I found out that several other people had made it there late as well due to a wreck that happened at my exact exit I needed to take which ultimately only made me feel slightly better.

The shower was perfect from all the decorations to the food and all the friends and family – just everything was perfect!  I don’t have pictures that show ALL of the decorations, but some you’ll see in a later post. 🙂

Of course the invitation was designed by KateOGroup which is my sister’s company!  This is where I take the opportunity to boast about my sister who started her own small business of graphic and website design just to name a little of what she does. That means she can create any invitation from baby shower to wedding and even does other items like table tents, cupcake toppers, etc.! Kate currently has over forty holiday cards listed in the store on her website. She competes with companies like Shutterfly and Minted for business with her holiday cards, but the difference with Kate is she can customize anything for you!  Teal and I both get our holiday cards from her each year and would love for you to do the same!  Maybe you need holiday greeting cards that require no picture, well, she has those too! They really thought of everything! My SIL sewed the mustache bags on the left and put mini wine bottles in them as a shower favor.

My sister made the diaper cake and of course, my SIL sewed cute little mustache baby shoes as the cake topper!

In our circle of friends we believe that adult beverages are a must at any an all showers even if the person the shower is for can’t actually partake. May you already figured that out with the shower favor.

Rebekah sewed the bunting in the mimosa bar picture which is now hanging proudly in Miles’ nursery!

My three best friends and I all had baby boys over the span of 10.5 months and so we took our first picture of all of the boys together at my shower even though Miles was still on the inside. 🙂

Look at how little Lane is!!

With all the hostesses! I am so lucky to have each and every one of them in my life! Seriously, I am and now Miles is lucky that they will always be apart of his life.

I’d also like to say a BIG thank you to Teal and Bitner.  This shower was not long AT ALL after Lane was born and it means the world to me that she didn’t kill me for that! 🙂  This shower was also not that long after Bitner’s wedding which I know was a lot of stress and he put a lot of work into that and then not only hosted the shower with the rest of the girls but also had the shower at his house!  And Lindsay, Tiffany, Kate, Mandy and Rebekah thank you for everything!  Y’all throw one hell of a shower and think of everything!

#LiAR Throws a Party

Pretty sure in a recent post we mentioned that this entire year is just flying by for both of us!  Not only have we been anxiously awaiting the arrival of our babies (except now Teal’s is here!!), but we’ve also had quite a few friends also having their own major life events.  One of said friends is our dear friend, Bitner.  Now you’ve seen him before in race recaps because he’s also a runner and we’ve gone out to races with him (for example, Tour des Fleurs 2011, Rock n Roll San Antonio 2011, White Rock Marathon 2011, Tour des Fleurs 2012, Tour des Fleurs 2013 and some others that haven’t been documented on the blog).

Bitner and his partner were tying the knot and he had asked both of us to be Bridesmaids in his wedding, so we decided we needed to throw him a proper wedding shower before the big day.  Sadly Teal’s due date and Bitner’s wedding date ended up being within two days of each other so she would no longer be in the wedding 🙁 , but this was a great way to still be apart of the festivities for her.

We like to think we throw a darn good party and we kicked it off by Beth’s sister, Kate, designing us the perfect custom wedding shower invitation.  This is the part of the blog where we say WE LOVE KATE!! No, really we do! She’s such a talented graphic designer and can custom make pretty much anything!  If you are ever looking for invitations, announcements, cards, cupcake toppers, signs, water bottle labels, etc. Kate’s Etsy shop is where you need to go! Just look at this beautiful invite that is now apart of her etsy shop!

We went with gold & silver for the colors since that’s what the wedding colors are.  They’re just such classic colors – you can’t go wrong and obviously, Bitner did not!  Since everyone loves a good brunch we figured we would center the theme around that and also to make serving mimosas acceptable.  Although these days amongst this group of friends we pretty much think any celebration calls for mimosas. 🙂 Are we really that far off?

You might have already noticed but we opted to make a little photo booth for the shower too full of props and a cute background with a burlap love sign. Whoever it was that first thought up the idea of photobooths full of props at events such as these was a genius! They just add to the fun!  Just a little bit of the fun –

All in all it was a very fun day!  We loved getting to honor and celebrate Bitner and his upcoming wedding. Bitner received so many gifts that centered around hosting his own party at his house we debated just heading straight there to continue the festivities for the day. 😉

We would tell you, Steven & Chaz, that we wish you a lifetime of happiness, but we in fact know you have a lifetime of happiness together in store.  We love you guys!

November Goals

November Goals

Oopsies, we are almost half way through the month, but we have already been working towards our goals for November and here’s what they are:

Teal-

1. Basically because my last month’s goals are a continuing struggle I am rolling all of those forward as well and will keep working on it.

2. You might have figured out by now that that room I was working on 2 months ago is the room the baby is going to live it when she gets here. I NEED to clean that completely out so that the construction guys can come in and replace all the walls and ceiling and I would like that to get taken care of by the end of this month. So FOR REAL this time, GET THE BACK ROOM CLEANED OUT!

back bedroom

3. Choose a new paint color and fabric for the kitchen. They are coming in to remodel the kitchen within the next 3 to 4 weeks and I really want to learn how to make Roman shades for the 4 windows in my kitchen. It is too ambitious for me to say I will actually make the shades this month, but the goal is to get everything ready for them.

Beth –

1. Stop letting your car be a gym bag! I am not even posting a picture of this because it embarrasses me and no, Teal, will not take a picture and upload it here. 🙂

2. Yoga twice a week!

3. READ!! This month I’m going to need to read 3 books in order to catch up!  The book club selection for November is Ladies’ Night by Mary Kay Andrews.

4. Buy fabric for the master bath and make another DIY window cornice!

Joint Goal –

  • Have pictures done and Christmas cards from Kate ordered!!  Who doesn’t love supporting local? Kate is a Dallasite that is an awesome graphic designer, so we can’t wait to work with her to design Christmas cards for each of us this year!
